Server crash due to "ticking entity"

Describe the Bug
I was trying to make an elevator by having an Observer watch for moving blocks from a mechanical piston, then it'd shoot out it's own normal piston to stop it from continuing down.
This crashed the server instead and now I can't join without it crashing.
Reproduction Steps
- Make a basic mechanical piston elevator
- Have an Observer observe it moving (I think? it might be the piston though)
...
Expected Result
I expected it to not work, but also not crash the server.
