Hose Pulley inconsistently viewing infinite source as infinite

Describe the Bug
when i lower a hose pulley into a "bottomless" lava source, it inconsistently grabs a bucket or two of lava showing "this source is bottomless" before the text goes away and no lava comes out
Reproduction Steps
I lowered a hose pulley a long distance into a bottomless lava source in the overworld and had a pump going at 1024su
Expected Result
the source should stay bottomless and pump lava at will
