Moving contraptions have a ghost block/rendering issue on a custom modpack server

Describe the Bug
I am working with a modpack author on an SMP project and we seem to be having an issue with moving contraptions and I'm not sure where to start with debugging it.
I built a rope pully attached to linear chassis with mechanical drills superglued to it, to drill to the bottom of the world. When I flip the switch on the gearbox to engage the machine, the blocks at the starting position looks like it stayed in place save for one, but when I look down into the hole, the whole machine is digging downward as it should. The blocks it destroyed also seem to remain, with the moving contraption moving into these ghost blocks. When you stop the machine and relog, the blocks fix themselves for the person who restarted them.
I feel like there might a rendering thing causing this but having already removed Rubidium I still have this issue. I'll go ahead and link the modpack in case you can find some incompatibility with it's related files

I already removed a few rendering-specific mods like Rubidium and it's add-ons.
Reproduction Steps
- Join a server with the modpack
- Build a moving contraption, my contraption of choice is a rope pully drill
- Engage the machine to start the drill
...
Expected Result
The drill should move as a unit without leaving a ghost block behind.
