Mystical Dagger from Forbidden Arcanus won't collect blood

Describe the Bug
I know that when you hit and kill an entity with the dagger, whether that be an animal or a village, it will automatically collect blood in the test tube. However, I have been killing mobs with the dagger but no blood is being collected from them.
Reproduction Steps
- Create the dagger
- create a test tube
- kill an mob (animal or villager)
...
Expected Result
At first, the dagger will begin to collect blood. But then after re-using the item, it does not collect blood
