All of the stones added should drop as cobble, because otherwise finding stone to make tools suddenly becomes very difficult. In addition, the cobblestone is not marked as forge:cobblestone, so it can not be used in any non-create recipes.

This is still an issue in 1.16 version of the mod.

I second the fact that this mod's cobblestone should be tagged as such. Even if it's just for decoration, if it can occur naturally it should integrate with other resources in the world. You cannot expect everyone to have to delve in their config because Create's defaults are uncaring of other mods.

As it is now, all the cobblestone variants should have the forge:cobblestone tag in their item and block form, this would render them a lot more useful for other mods and allow it to be more easily integrated into other things.

Create's added cobblestone items are part of forge:cobblestone as of July last year. Could it be an issue with your modpack?

It's an issue with the block version. It seems (at least in my modpack) that it has not been tagged on the block version. The item version is properly tagged.

Except they are replacing a lot of normal stone. Either it needs to drop cobble or a recipe to turn it into cobble and use it AS cobble needs to exist, because right now its not tagged as forge:cobblestone, and you cant expect every person who installs this mod to add their own recipes.

So every player has to use the config to change the defaults? That doesnt change that there should be an easier way to get the cobble that doesnt require iron and also the lack of forge tags

I'm just letting you know about ways to fix your problem, you literally can find stone everywhere. The cobblestone in this mod is only for decoration, and you do not need iron to obtain normal cobblestone unless you somehow have it set to replace all of your world's stone with other types. If you are using Terraforged, keep in mind normal stone veins can be rare.
