Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a power source (I used a water wheel, but I assume it behaves the same with other ones)
2. Attach a belt separated by a few shafts for spacing
3. Add a brass case to some part of the belt
4. disconnect the belt from the power source
5. observe that the belt still moves

Attached is an image of a simple setup that also contains a stressometer and a rotational speed controller to demonstrate that increasing the stress of the disconnected system also increases the load on the power source
