Can't Interact with things in the back of the train

Describe the Bug
I am for some reason unable to interact with anything (doors, seats, etc.) in the back of my train. anything in front of it can be interacted with.
Reproduction Steps
- build a somewhat long train (15 blocks)
- put something like a seat or door in the back
- if it doesn't work, make the train longer
Expected Result
sounds can sometimes be heard, but nothing actually changes.
