Input water to steam engine

Describe the Bug

I can use pipes from other mods to input water into a fluid tank, so it was weird I couldn't do the same with the steam engine.

As we see in the left corner of the photo, the fluid tank is filled as I think it should be normal to do, with a pipe from other mods. But the steam engine says it doesn't have water, but if I remove the steam whistle it says it is full of water. After this I tried with a creative fluid tank, mechanical pump into the steam engine and it works.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Creative water tank piped into the steam engine. (I also tried tanks from ae2 and pipes from pipez, unsuccessfully)

Expected Result

I expected for Create to have better mods compatibility and allow different ways to do things.

I am having the same issue.
If I replace the steam engine with a fluid tank it fills fine.

you need to continuously pump it with water

I believe it is being filled continuously. (I realize that wasn't visible in the original screenshots sorry)
I was able to fix this by removing all of the steam engines and replacing them so I think that was somehow the cause lol.
Here is a screenshot of the other reactor which is working fine, both pumps are connected.
List of things I've tried that didn't fix the error:

  • Completely rebuilding the boiler from scratch
  • Replacing water blocks with a creative fluid tank filled with water
  • Restarting Minecraft
  • Restarting PC
