Edge blocks of contraptions don't get updated when placed

Describe the Bug
When contraption gets placed, only the blocks which aren't at the edge update and therefore check if they are powered by redstone and so on. You can create many illegal block states next to each other. This can be semi fixed by placing torch, button or smth like that on the block that isn't getting updated (to make the button the edge block).

Expected Result
I would expect all blocks to update without needing to put buttons or torches on the edge blocks (see video).
