Ticking block entity crash from fan after placing brass casing [1.15.2_v0.2.4d]

Setup

Problem

  • Placing a brass casing onto a belt in front of an encased fan crashes on a ticking block entity, which happens upon reload as well. World is now unplayable.
  • Update: I was able to remove the entity with a game editor, and the case is not in front of the fan, but on the belt square just before it. So it's [B]elt, [F]an, [W]ater, [S]lab, [-]ground:
    [-][F][-]
    [B][B][B]
    [-][S][-]
    [-][W][-]
I am placing a brass casing on the first (left most) belt.
This belt is rotating towards the right, so the casing is the first part of the belt. Placing a casing on the last part does not crash.

Reproduction

  • With an existing conveyor belt, I placed a brass casing on one end that was just before a fan drawing in water. The setup was (horizontally) fan (pulling <-) - belt - cobble slab - water block. Applying the casing immediately crashed and does so upon reload as well.

  • Screen shots showing the exact process added here: https://imgur.com/a/KTACx8D

Remarks

  • Let me know if I can provide more information, if there's anything you'd like me to try, etc.

Thanks!

Update July 30: Case being placed before the fan, not in front of it like I initially thought. I'll get a screen shot and update again.
Update July 30: Added screen shots.

I used the world editor from universalminecrafteditor dot com. Using the coordinates reported in the crash log for the ticking entity, I removed it from the world. I was then able to load the game and rebuild the machine in a different way, which is still working fine.
