Mechanical Belt Crash (no Optifine)

Describe the Bug
Ticking block entity crash after placing down a mechanical belt in the specific place showed in the capture. It is not locational, nor directional, the distance between shafts does not matter (tested with a couple length between 2 and 20), it just need a funnel to be placed in the shaft before the belt.
Reproduction Steps
- place 2 shafts
- place a funnel (brass or andesite) in the end of any shaft
- place belt in the two shafts
- game crashes
- open game again -> belt is placed and no crash
Expected Result
Not to crash

Additional Context
The modpack does not use Optifine
I've been having the same crash. I had a hunch that it might be pre-existing shafts that the belt must encompass while being formed, but this crash happens even with a 2 shaft belt. Game crashes yielding the same crash, and when the game reloads the belt is indeed built. In fact, you can see the belt build before the game freezes. This crash doesn't happen every time a belt is built, but quite frequently.
