Mechanical press does not smash second copper ingot into plate

Describe the Bug
When throwing multiple ingots on the ground below a mechanical press one at a time, the press successfully turns the first ingot into a plate but not any additional ingots (piston arm still moves).
[Test world] - press successfully turns all ingots to plates if the items are clumped together into a stack by MC, but not if they are individual item entities. Inconsistent results with multiple stacks of multiple ingots (with clutch to prevent piston from moving), even after waiting for the game to clump them together. Sometimes it does almost all of them, sometimes it only does one type of ingot and ignores the rest. Does not appear to change with other RPMs.
Reproduction Steps
- Mechanical press
- Throw single ingot on ground below it
- Wait for it to smash the first ingot
- Throw second ingot below it
- Arm extends multiple times but ingot does not get converted
Expected Result
Mechanical press should convert one ingot per stroke into it's respective plate.
