Describe the Suggestion

It can be confusing at times to remember which block was in position 1 or 2 of a redstone link, or I may not have those two particular blocks in inventory when I need to set them on a redstone link. Perhaps shift-clicking on a placed redstone link while the active item in the hotbar is also a redstone link could create a redstone link which has the items pre-set? Similar to how, with the ender chest mod, if you dye the three bars then break the box, the box you get back "remembers" the colors it was dyed.

You can do so in creative if you hold Ctrl and pick block.

I just checked, and that is the behaviour I'm suggesting. I can't see why it shouldn't also work in survival though, if done with a redstone link active in the hotbar.
