I tried to build a flying structure with mechanical pistons. I thought that this could be done in vanilla-style, with two parts pushing and pulling each other. This is how I built it:

It is supposed to work like this: the encased fans with magma blocks on the bottom are power sources, which drives the (non-sticky) mechanical pistons to push forward, moving the other half; then the sticky mechanical piston on the other half stretch out and pulls the first half, to finish one cycle.

The problem is that when sticky mechanical piston stretches out, picks up and then places the second half, the encased fan stops spinning, which stops the whole machine.

I've tried with the creative motor and did not produce the problem. It seems that the encased fan got unpowered after being picked up and placed by the sticky mechanical piston, even if there is a red stone block right beside it.

Some detailed information:

  • Placing another red stone block beside it does not re-power that encased fan, I had to remove the original red stone block and place back to re-power it.
  • It does not matter whether I use a red stone block or a lever.

Unlike reported in #393, non-sticky mechanical pistons don't stop encased fans; sticky ones don't, either, if the fan is not picked up halfway (I guess some bug fixes have been applied since then).
