Deployer inconsistent/weird behaviour when placing liquids in a moving contraption

Describe the Bug

When deployer is moved as a part of a moving contraption at a distance from the ground, it either does not place the liquid provided or places it behind itself.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Setup contraption as shown in the picture
    image
  2. Flip the lever so the contraption starts moving
  3. Observe deployer placing lava underneath, despite facing up
  4. Remove the lava
  5. Filp the lever again and observe the deployer placing only 1 block of lava

Expected Result

I expect it to place lava 2 blocks away from the deployer in the direction it is facing
