I've already posted this on Curse, but though I should also put it here.

Balloon Block: These blocks would be slightly smaller than a normal block, but would link together like fence or walls. A balloon block could be dyed any of the wool colors. 1 balloon block would be able to lift 5 normal blocks. You would have to create a hollow pocket, not just fill the area.

Tether: This block would be similar to a lead. You would use it to connect any balloon assembly to a main airship assembly.

Docking Bridge: This would be something of a gimmick, but it would extend three blocks to allow you to board a floating airship without attaching extra blocks to it.

Helm: This block would allow you to move up/down/left/right. Whenever you clicked it, you would be in a third person view of the airship, moving the airship rather than yourself with movement keys.

Propelling: Using encased Fans, you could allow the airship to go faster or slower.

This could probably be done much more easily with some sort of optional Archimedes' Ships integration. Or maybe a MetaWorlds implementation?

With permission, they could yoink the sourcecode for Plato's Transporters, the 1.16 implementation of Archimedes ships. MetaWorlds is a stretch, and although I'd love to see it done (It's a ridiculously powerful mod and would open up a lot of new options for create) but the devs already have a lot on their hands for the 0.3 update.
