Performance drops with (New?) Waterwheels?

Describe the Bug
I'm currently playing ATM 8, and am pretty much still at the beginning, Create was the first real mod I wanted to tackle, but for some reason every time I look in the general direction of the (New) Waterwheels my FPS drop significantly. (e.g I play with 60-80fps usually, but once I look in the general direction of the waterwheels they dip to around 30)
Not sure if it's because of the new waterwheel design.
Things to note: 1. My "base" has vanilla blocks only (for the most part, besides Iron furnaces and upgraded chests)
2. I only just started create and am using 6 water wheels in total (2x3 waterwheels for 2 different uses)
3. The last couple of modpacks (with create) did not have that issue. (all of them were for older mc versions
4. and/or had older versions of create installed (with for example the old waterwheel design))
Reproduction Steps
Expected Result
Not getting my fps halved, just like in previous versions.

Heya!
So this might be a shader thing, since you're playing with shaders.
Simple fix: Download Oculus & Flywheel compat.
Note: If you're using the curseforge launcher, it will download flywheel and fabric api automatically as required dependencies. Delete those or otherwise your game will crash. (create no longer requires flywheel for newer versions)

Iirc ATM8 disables flywheel by default for some reason so its probably not that
