Crashes on Startup

Describe the Bug

Every time I launch Minecraft 1.19.2 with the create mod installed it crashes immediately, going back to the launcher with an error code 1. I have no other mods installed, and the game functions completely fine without Create installed.
It does not generate a crash report, however I will copy the log file generated if that is of any help.

I have attempted installing both 0.5.1B as well as 0.5.1C, both of which to the same effect.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Install Forge (I've installed multiple versions for 1.19.2, all give the same result.)
  2. Install Create
  3. Launch Game
  4. Crash w/ Error Code 1

Expected Result

I really just want the game to actually launch

Screenshots and Videos

No response

Crash Report or Log

https://gist.github.com/PixelatedPerfection/a9cc84e91c7eddd73b0e549ae06fb2aa

Operating System

Windows 11

Mod Version

0.5.1c

Minecraft Version

1.19.2

Forge Version

43.2.21

Other Mods

No other mods, solely Create 0.5.1

Additional Context

While I tried launching primarily on Forge 43.2.1, I also tried 42.2.20, and 43.2.0, as well as giving upping the RAM Forge used from 2 to 4 (the -xmx2 thing), both of which had no change on the outcome. I've even gone about updating the version of Java I use, too.

It does not even reach the loading screen, the launcher closes, then reopens a few moments later saying "exit code: 1"

PixelatedPerfection - when you copy your links, they end up like: [the actual link url](the text "URL").
The actual url goes in the parenthesis. The way you're putting them ends up making a url that looks fine, but just links to https://github.com/Creators-of-Create/Create/issues/url.

commented

please provide the full crash report (in folder crash-reports)

commented

it doesnt give a crash report, I said this, which is why I provided the log file instead

commented

Yes, I can provide the other logs from my earlier attempts today if that would help any

commented

and the 19 lines you provided is the entire log?

commented

the regular minecraft launcher

commented

what launcher are you using?

commented

would you be willing to try the prism launcher to see if it provides better feedback?

commented

sure, just give me a bit to download it

commented

i did not know this, lol, will be back with an update once ive tried again

commented

weird your log says java 17

commented

maybe you need to configure the java used in prism

commented

oh, well cant hurt to reinstall I suppose

commented

Okay so I tried launching it with Prism, and it gave me the error of:
This instance is not compatible with Java version 8. Please switch to one of the following Java versions for this instance: Java version 17 Go to instance Java settings to change your Java version or disable the Java compatibility check if you know what you're doing.

so I'm going to try updating java again

commented

oh yes you need java 17 for mc >1.16

commented

alright, i tried changing it to another java executable, same error as before

commented

no try to configure it first

commented

how do i do that/what am I configuring

commented

settings > java for the global setting but it can also be configured per instance of course

commented

alright, what setting do i alter for java in prismlauncher

commented

the path to the executable java

commented

i am on linux and for me it is /app/jdk/17/bin/java i am sure it is much different on windows

commented

for me its C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Oracle/Java/javapath or C:/Program Files/Java/jre-1.8/bin, both of which result in the same error

commented

I should note I'm using the create mod files on my computer for this, in case that is of any importance
edit:
I used the built in install mod function in prismlauncher, same result

commented

alright so another detail:
I launched it without mods, and it still gave me the same error in prismlauncher

commented

javaw.exe (the only exe file that either of the two destination folders use)

if it helps any, heres the full prism error log:
https://gist.github.com/PixelatedPerfection/e44f0c71e5adb197332585535b51c0b9
it even gives the error without using forge

commented

can you check what java is configured in the instance

commented

ok the link doesnt work. but you need the full path to the java executable otherwise you will get the system default which in your case appears to be java 8

commented

oh i've been doing that, i just didnt think I had to list those here
both directories lead to a javaw.exe, which afaict are effectively the same when i press the test button

commented
commented

ill try to redownload java 7 and see if that changes anything

commented

yh it is still java 8. so that wont work

commented

I have never used windows and i have been in this business for over 40 years. so unfortunately i cannot provide guidance for updating java. but that is clearly the crux of the issue.

commented

Alright so I managed to install Java 7 (though it was a bit of a pain to find)
the game actually launches now, thanks!

commented

java 17 i hope its a typo :) but congrats

commented

oh
i downloaded 7, like RTE 7

commented

a lot of people use https://adoptium.net/

commented

oh, ill look into that
thanks for the help!

commented
