[Suggestion] Peaceful Mode - Add Recipes for Mob-Only Drops

TL;DR - Without cheating in the necessary items, progress under Peaceful difficulty will be halted entirely at one point or another, as there in no way to obtain one or more certain items required for progression through the Create mod. One example is the items of Blaze Rod / Blaze Powder.

When playing with younger kids, or because not everyone has the same play style, some users may want to play Create on Peaceful mode. I myself almost always play on Survival, but to learn Create, I started up a Peaceful world. When I saw that I could create slime balls with dough and lime dye while making my windmill, I was excited that there might be a mod pack that lent itself well to being played on Peaceful (blame Ilmango here, I had forgotten Peaceful difficulty existed until recently.)

However, within a day of moderate playing, I ran into a wall with anything much more complex than the basic constructs, such as the Crushing Wheel, which requires the Mechanical Crafter. The Mechanical Crafter, in turn, requires 2 Brass Sheets, which require Brass Ingots, which can be created by mixing 2 Blaze Powder with 1 Copper and 1 Zinc. As such, in the current iteration, that makes the items effectively impossible to obtain.

My suggestion would be adding a similar recipe as was done with the slime ball. For instance, one recipe for Blaze Powder could be adding lava to a crushed metal, such as gold (giving a good reason to mine more for gold.) Surrounding a Quality Tool Handle with Blaze Powder could then produce a Blaze Rod, should one be needed. This example also would also prevent cheesing the system, as it would always cost more to produce a Blaze Rod than you could recoup back into Blaze Powder.

Anyway, that is just my take on it, but it would be good to have a non-cheat way to obtain specific items that normally would come from mobs, even if at a higher cost. NOTE: I may add updates if I notice more stopping points due to other essential items being unobtainable in Peaceful.

Not a dev or anything, but as far as I know this is already considered in the upcoming update, though through different mechanics. Until then you can adjust the recipes yourself using a data pack, you can even make custom recipes using Create machines (I am pretty sure...).

I do agree that this could be solved with a data pack, but most players are not going to have the necessary skills to do this for themselves. Plus, I think it fits more into the feeling of the pack, considering that bonemeal and slime balls are already obtainable sans mobs.

Either way, that sounds good; I like the idea of making someone work for things to obtain them in Peaceful and/or Hardcore modes. However, that is also a complaint I have with base Minecraft, which itself takes certain things off the table for Peaceful players, which in my opinion goes against their core concept of playing the game and making the game what you want it to be (for the most part.)

Brass in particular (which appears to be your main argument) is being solved already; in 0.3 you'll only need access to the blaze spawner itself, which exists regardless of difficulty mode. Are there other items you feel are problematic in this regard?

I'm still getting further into my first playthrough in this mod, but I will work on doing a thorough search of JEI and comment again afterwards. I know the blaze rods/blaze powder did end up gating some items, but that is the main items I've noticed thus far.

As an aside, I will say this mod is amazing -- it is the first tech mod I've enjoyed, and it fits the vanilla game very well.

I'll let you folks know if I find anything else as soon as I can. :)

Okay, got that done. The only other two I'm unsure of the viability in Peaceful mode are these:

Dragon's Breath (Chromatic Compound)
Nether Star [Beacon] (Refined Radiance)

Everything else I saw required either Blaze Powder or Blaze Rods, which was already discussed above.

Is there somewhere I could have (or should have) looked before posting this, which could have insured that I did not post an unhelpful issue to the tracker?

Thanks!
