Crash when pondering in create menu

Describe the Bug
Pondering through REI does nothing other than get rid of the text that says 'hold W to ponder' for all relevant create items. When I try to go into the create goggles menu to ponder, the game fully crashes.
Reproduction Steps
1.ESC
2.click create setting button
3.click ponder items
4.click any entry
crash
Expected Result
expected ponder animation to begin and game not to crash

updating create to .5.1e doesn't help so i'm hoping someone can figure out the incompatibility with the mods :(
