Trains sporadically refuse to move if I'm sitting down in them [at least 0.5.1c, 0.5.1e]

Describe the Bug
I have set up a test track on my multiplayer server on which I am playing with friends, it is about 1000 meters long all round. If I get on the train, after a distance of about, 400 blocks, the train suddenly screeches to a halt if I'm sitting down.
Doesn't matter whether I am the driver or a mob is driving the train, it just stops. If I drive the train when it happens, the speedometer above the hotbar is still showing as if the train was in motion, but in reality, it is not. It even emits the steam particles and sound as if I actually stopped.
When it happens, if I get out of a seat in the train, it moves just a little bit farther and then actually stops, if something is driving the train, it resumes travel. Sometimes, the train teleports away from me and leaves me behind.
Does not occur in singleplayer (I had a 3000 meter long track in singleplayer and it didn't happen there.)
Please note that I removed ANY entity culling related mods (It Shall Not Tick, Entity Culling, Let Me Despawn), which I suspected were the issue, and it still occurred.
Reproduction Steps
- Have a multiplayer server (with people on it or not)
- Create a train network with a length of at least 600 meters (required) and with two stations on it (optional, for convenience)
- Have the locomotive be driven or drive it
- After a random amount of blocks, the train will stop
Expected Result
The vehicle is in motion until it reaches a certain destination, or the end of the track.
