Unable to input items into basins using brass funnels

Describe the Bug
I was tryna build an automatic dried kelp block farm, I had a conveyor belt leading to a basin, under the end of this conveyor belt was an encased fan with fire on it, I placed a brass funnel on the basin that was inputing items from the end of the conveyor where the kelp was coming from, with a filter on it that only allowed dried kelp, but no matter what I did, (removing the filter, right clicking the funnel with a wrench, removing the fan), the dried kelp just wouldn't enter the brass funnel, let alone the basin.
Reproduction Steps
1.Place down basin
2.Place down conveyor belt moving items toward the basin
3.Place funnel on side of basin facing the conveyor belt
...
Expected Result
Items on conveyor belt enter the basin
