Minecart contraption becomes invisible if one looks away from the minecart itself

A minecart contraption disappears when the minecart itself is more than just a little bit outside of the camera's view.
This appears to be related to the FOV, as reducing it can make a contraption reappear without moving the camera.
The contraption works just fine, aside from that.
Tested with a single carriage hanging from a monorail (i.e. with the cart above the player, and the player inside the contraption)
Optifine was also installed, but no shader. I'll experiment without optifine soon
