Game crashes while "Rendering overlay"

Describe the Bug
I was booting up minecraft 1.18.2 with a bunch of other mods and once minecraft was about to finish launching a dirt screen with squares appeared.
Reproduction Steps
- Open forge 40.2.14 on minecraft 1.18.2
- wait until the game boots up onto the mojang screen
- the game crashes with error code -1 after a dirt screen with squares
Expected Result
I expected to be able to play minecraft normally. However, the game crashed and I can't find out why
