Toggle Mode for Linked Controller

Describe the Suggestion

Linked controllers are great, but only work for momentary actions. Would there be a smart way of allowing players to set buttons to "toggle mode" as opposed to momentary? This would allow legitimate and convenient activating and deactivating of things like valves, redstone control for machines, and MUCH more.

I think the challenge may be having MC remember the state of the buttons and maintain the state when the controller is not in-hand. This might be easier with the lectern placement of the controller, but I'm not certain how that side of this works.

Additional Context

The linked controller would be ideal for controlling redstone links attached directly to machines. You could toggle the state of machines and hoppers, effectively remote controlling entire factory production lines.

You can achieve toggleable button outputs from your "linked controller" by connecting your "redstone link" to a "powered toggle latch" giving you a constant on/off output
