I put in a zinc ingot and copper ingot in a heated basin below the mechanical mixer and all I am getting is zinc/copper nuggets. It is not letting me gather brass ingots this way. I have checked with crushed ores and it does not work either. Blaze rods are not working so it looks like I am unable to get brass at all.

If you are on version 0.3 you need a blaze heater with a blaze in it and underneath the basin. You can feed it I.e charcoal to heat it up then you get brass. I pulled my hair out over it until I read some comments . Hope this helps.

The issue is that it auto-generates recipes, like any ingot you throw in instantly is turned into nuggets. So if you throw in the ingots to make Brass it'll just instantly turn into nuggets first. The same issue happens with the recipe for chocolate, throwing in cocoa beans instantly turn into brown dye. Hopefully they fix conflicting recipes soon.

There is a filter slot where you can filter it to produce brass or chocolate only. If you don't have the item you want to filter yet, I'll suggest that you unpower the mixer, put the items in, then power it again.

This answered my problem. It's really difficult to keep up with documentation and changes for this mod. I have watched many youtube videos to try and understand the mod but many of the videos, even recently made ones, have many features or items that don't exist anymore or have been changed.

I didn't think of using filters, but unpowering the mixer before adding ingredients (and making sure the blaze heater is active before re-powering it) works fine, for both brass and chocolate.

The same issue happens with the recipe for chocolate, throwing in cocoa beans instantly turn into brown dye. Hopefully they fix conflicting recipes soon.

Make sure the basin is heated, and throw in four sugar and four cocoa beans per bucket of milk. (Throw in the sugar first, as there is no standalone recipe for it.)
