armor trims not working 1.20.1

Describe the Bug
Can't apply armor trims to any kind of armor, does work without create installed
smithing table says, item can't be upgraded this way
Reproduction Steps
- with create installed
- smithing table: item can't be upgraded this way
- uninstalling create
- smithing table: no errors
Expected Result
check what item or crafting recipe from create disables armor trims

I also am having issues where my trims recipes have gone missing, I will try to see if this is a Create issue or Create compat issue
Literally only have these mods enabled
Still cannot use trim smithing table functions
Even with almost the bare minimum, I cannot get a trim recipe to work, in fact I cant even place the gold chestplate IN the smithing table

Solution for people in the future: Check the logs.
The "tag" system - the thing that allows recipes or mechanics to target a group of items/blocks instead of specific items/blocks - is a house of cards that fails if a SINGLE tag doesn't resolve. Check why the "minecraft:trimmable_armors" tag isn't resolving; odds are it's something stupid like a music disc being missing.
non of the armor trim recipes are working, i tried multiple patterns but nothing worked. its like there is no recipe anymore exept for the netherite upgrade.
