0.3 makes the greatest mod ever even greater, with player interactions added to something many had already thought to be impossible in Minecraft. However, this update also added many new items which could simply have been done as added capabilities or even as combinations of other contraptions. Seeing that Create aims to differentiate itself from other "steampunk engineering" mods in that it follows a Redstone-like philosophy of basic tools which work together to create complex machines, unnecessary tools which could simply be done via combinations brings the danger of falling into the pitfalls similar mods had fallen into. Thus, I propose a bit of simplification and increased versatility.

The first thing I think should be done is that bearings should be simplified, and the amount of types should be decreased. Instead of arbitrarily using new types of blocks, which would make any changes to core functions much more difficult, new functionality should be accomplished via better integration of vanilla factors (like flowing water, falling sand, obstructing stone, etc.) and interaction between Create contraptions.

For example, instead of having a bunch of different types of Bearing, we could have only one, and let a clockwork locking mechanism turn anything into clockwork. Maybe the Bearing wouldn't have to be a block at all, instead just letting pushable blocks (i.e. not Obsidian) spin when holes are drilled through them (new tool required) and a shaft is placed in a hole. As another example, instead of having a bunch of Bearing blocks, blocks with Shafts in them would also have another purpose: holding other blocks together (only blocks of the same type) the way rebar holds concrete together. This could work even with two or three Shafts in one block (the block wouldn't be able to spin this way), and Super Glue would do the rest. My final example would be that there's no need for Belt Observers when you could just make regular Observers see items on belts.

This would take some work, but it would help decrease the size of the mod to a point where it's at least a bit easier to find items in Creative. It would also decrease the mod's size and increase the building possibilities.
