Just like lava with blue ice under it and soul soil next to it transforms into basalt, I suggest that the same thing with Scoria instead of soul soil should generate netherrack (since it is currently non-renewable), and with Gabbro it should transform into soul sand (to make quartz and soul sand farms possible without using multiple dimensions).
