Cannot filter smart fluid pipe for potions

I'm trying to set up an autobrewing chain that takes water, brews into awkward potion, then into water breathing potion, then into extended-duration water breathing potion, then fills bottles. Using IE's mixer multiblock to brew the potions means that the pipe needs to be filtered to only extract the output potion fluid or else it'll also get the input fluid. The problem is that there's no way to set the pipe's filter to only extract the potion - there's no bucket of awkward potion, and potion bottles don't work.

The setup I have is an IE mixer being filled with water, nether warts supplied when available, and a Create smart fluid pipe on the output with a mechanical pump pipe a little down the line, feeding into a tank. When the smart fluid pipe is unfiltered, it extracts normally, taking whatever is on the bottom on the mixer's tank. If there's no awkward potion in there, it'll pull water instead. If I filter the smart fluid pipe with a bottle of awkward potion (the vanilla minecraft item) then nothing is ever extracted at all.

I'm having a similar issue, although for me it allows me to place a specific potion bottle in the smart pipe's filter slot. However, neither of the craftable filter items work in the filter slot - they simply lock it down, rather than properly filtering.

When you say you can place a specific potion bottle, do you mean that you can apply a single bottle of some potion to the filter and have it extract that potion fluid? Because when I tried, the filter slot accepted the bottle but nothing was ever extracted.
