Description of your suggestion.

Right now smelting water into salt takes 40 seconds in all three furnaces: Regular furnace, blast furnace, smoker. Of the three, you could remove the smoker, as that's for making smoked salt. (IRL I use smoked salt in savory dishes.)

Leave the regular furnace at 40 seconds, but halve that time for the blast furnace, to 20 seconds. It's a hotter heat source so it should work faster.
