Construction mode item is blank, cannot place any blocks [1.18.2]

I'm using this in the ATM7 pack. Using the key to change to "construction mode", all that shows in the bottom left is the mode name, no block preview. Preview is also enabled in the config. Right-clicking also does nothing.
