Torches in off-hand vanish when converting dirt

Versions:
- Minecraft Forge: 14.23.5.2815
- dirt2path: 1.8.0
What happens:
While holding a torch in the off-hand, converting a dirt block (I believe grass is working correctly) to path places a torch which then vanishes out of existence and doesn't drop itself, while the dirt block converted successfully.
What should happen:
The same as with grass blocks: just convert to a path and don't place a torch at all.
Additional comments:
More testing shows that when converting a dirt block right next to a wall, the above still happens but the torch will attach itself to the wall (if it can).
Further investigation revealed that when holding blocks in your off-hand and converting dirt, the shovel will take damage even though it just places the block. You can hear the shovel is being used before the block is placed.
