Texture of the plate rotate after place food on it

It seems that the plate rotates after placing the kelp roll slice on the plate. But when I'm facing south and place the food, the texture performs correct. Is this a bug or a feature?
Mod version 1.2.0, game version 1.21.1, Neoforge version 21.1.80
It works as intended. This happens because empty plates are not directional, but plated foods are.
