Impossible to load into server

Description
our group has been playing rlcraft for a while, swapped over to rlcraft dregora today
1st session was working as expected
disconnecting and reconnecting causes me to be stuck in skybox with no chunks loading(skybox only), and no inventory
Shortly after chunks load, i get disconnected from the server with either a "disconected" or a "NullPointerException"
one other player at the same time experienced it briefly, but it resolved itself. There are 4 other players currently playing on the same server with no issues.
During the short period between the chunks getting loaded and be getting dc'd, i can walk and break blocks clientside, but the actions aren't recognized by the server, no blocks dropping
steps taken to resolve:
regenerating world, restarting pc, restarting server, restarting router, using vpn, reinstalling rlcraft dregora
nothing works
