Description
I hope I can explain it well. The world freezes every seconds for sometimes a few minutes and than fixes itself, I've tried more ram and other video settings, render distance VSync off and so on. I can still move but nothing else moves, I can't build or anything but moving.
I have like 300 mods installed because I use a modpack called roguelike adventures and dungeons 2 with this mod. Are there any incompatibilities known of? I don't have optifine installed.
I hope this helps.
That would be typical for situations where minecraft doesn't has enough ram allocated. You however stated that you did try to allocate more ram but without it giving the desired result.
300 mods is a lot though, you are pretty much in uncharted lands, how much ram did you try to allocate because it may not have been enough. Your system's CPU may also affect performance but there isn't much you can do about that

Thank you, yeah I think that's true maybe there is something that don't work with the mod or the cpu, without dregora everything works fine and I've played dregora with rlcraft and other big modpacks before, that's that makes me wonder why this happens.
I have 16gb ram allocated, do you think I need more?
Thank you I'll try that! If I find some kind of incompatibility I'll write it here.
Hmm, 16gb should be enough, perhaps it's due to mob over spawning, it's really quite difficult to determine what causes the issue within the modpack. Your best approach would be to take half of the mods out, try again and slowly work through the list until you find the mod that causes the issue
Good morning,
I found out which mod causes this issue, it's the lycanite mobs mod. I don't know why or how but this issue only happens with this mod installed. I've tried disable other mods to see if it changes but nothing worked. I can use lycanite without dregora with all the other mods and dregora alone with all the other mods but it won't work together.
Thanks for helping!
Good to see you found a solution, that said... I'm working on a RLCraft version of Dregora which includes lycanites as one of it's biggest mods. In Dregora RL's case these two work together without having the issues you described so it could still be a issue with lycanites.
I will keep this in mind, re-open the issue and do a check once I resume working on v1.16. To see if I can fix it :) This however may take some time as I am preoccupied with making the RLCraft version right now.
Changed the name of the issue so that if others bump into it they can apply the solution you found by removing lycanites or dregora dependent on what they want their modpack to be.
Thanks for the feedback! 👍
Thank you that's great, yeah I've tried Rlcraft and Dregora and really liked it!
I would enjoy it if Lycanite and Dregora works together in 1.16, but I know it takes a lot of work and time in particularly if you have another project. I'm thankfull in general that you think about fixing it after your project!
If I can help with more informations feel free to ask. :)
Did you try it with the default RLC installation? (also some performance mods may actually cause issues when used with other performance mods)
Haven't touched rl-craft if that what you mean. But I did try Forge-OTG-Dregora without any other mods at all, and nah, performance-wise it was a worse experience. It's less smooth overall and chunk loading/updating becomes even more noticable.
I do however play with 12gb
I played with the memory a little bit, and on my machine I can lower it down to 11.8Gb and it feels mostly ok'ish. But going lower and stutters and freezes wont stop; and going lower than 8Gb and it's a game over, so 🤷
Forge: 36.2.34
Dregora Remastered: 3.2 1.16.5 [HOTFIX]
OTG: 1.16.5-0.1.10
Wondering what are Dregora' recommended memory requirements? Currently it chugs on 8.8Gb.
Adding performance mods (Embeddium, FerriteCore, Entity Culling, Lazydfu, ModernFix, Starlight) makes little difference.
Setting chunk radius to 5, doesn't help.
Pre-generating world, surprisingly, doesn't help either.
Is it just so demanding or is there a memory leak somewhere?
To clarify, it sweeps through 5-to-8Gb of mem in seconds and freezes for a second or 2 and is consistent no matter what,
Allocating less than 8Gb and world creation gets stuck at random % forever.
Welp, seems I've found an answer:
- the mod needs 12Gb at the minimum (that's with the performance mods installed only).
- It still chugs at the start for a few minutes, but then stabilizes.
Doesn't look like a memory leak, just demanding.
I'm not sure that's the core of the issue, the mod has been tested on my end with multiple PC's using 3GB ram which does chugs then with 6gb, 8gb and 12gb. 6GB was doable with 8GB I am able to play without issue, normally I do however play with 12gb when able as I tend to re-make worlds a lot which causes memory leaks, having 12gb allocated makes it so I can make a few more worlds before it becomes a issue requiring a restart.

I seem to have totally ignored part of the message as I was taken up by the development of DregoraRL but yeah, the 1.16.5 branch of Dregora has a lot of issues going on where I can say it barely runs. I'm still working on the development for DregoraRL but will most definitely fix these issues for both 1.12.2 as 1.16.5 remastered versions. The current timeline for said fixes would be Q1 2024.
These fixes will be accompanied by a metric ton of content which I am currently working on for RLCraft and will be ported to vanilla 1.12.2 & 1.16.5.
So yeah, hang in there and a update will follow for said versions in due time, this issue report will be closed the moment I upload the new 1.16.5 release :)
