At least in this version of ZAWA (1.4.0) it appears to be intentional that you can tame child entities and ride them as well. I don't know if this changes in 1.5.2 or not, but I'm too far into committing to 1.4.0.

Potential solution: add aging compatibility for ZAWA animals.

Otherwise it seems to be Working As Intended.

Perhaps file a bug/ask Soggy Mustache?
