Description:

Too many waterfall noise instances make it so that no other noises can be heard. This blocks everything including this mod's footsteps, combat noises, eating noises, breaking blocks, and all other game sounds.

I had that problem as well, the only fix you can try for now is to make sure to disable the waterfall splash effect, you can install Configured mod along with Catalogue mod to have a direct access in-game through the Main Menu Screen to the mod's properties. The mod will require you to install Cloth Config API as well to manage Dynamic Surroundings files, find for this option and disabled it, you'll have to restart your Minecraft for the changes to take effect.
