[Feature Request] Custom player models compatibility suggestion
SniffSniff125 opened this issue · 5 comments
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
the mod's npcs only support custom textures, and not models.
Describe the solution you'd like
the ability to use real time player skin (like laser mod) , or to import a cpmproject/cpmmodel/bb (blockbench )model file
Describe alternatives you've considered
custom players model (cpm for short), has 2 export options:
-model , creates a .cpmmodel file in "custom player model" folder, using a paste/gist
-skin , uses the vanilla skin layout and stores the informations on unused space
Additional context

i have seen a lot of good models for the mod, and i even ported one made by my friend.
it would be wonderful to be able to use them for npcs instead of just players
it would add a lot of depth to modpacks , wolds and maps
if i haven't provided enough informations, please dont close the issue, just ask for more and i will delve deeper into the mechanics.
thanks!
This would be a phenomenal feature. I’m highly looking forward to this being a possibility. I could create custom bosses with dialogue for our role-playing server that goes along with our questline and lore. Even if you can’t pose the model, creating a separate NPC type strictly for the CPM models would allow us to do our own thing and pose it through CPM (maybe?)
i found another alternative, adding a folder with models, and another one/a subfolder with textures.
doing so, there would be no need to manually add compatibility to multiple mods with custom models
users of cpm could import the file in blockbench (using cpm official plugin), then save the model in the required format
and the texture as png/jpg
it would be a little more advanced, but it would offer compatibility for many model custom model mods, and even other models as long as they can be converted.
thanks for reading. have a good day!
Thanks for the feedback, the main issue with custom models is, that I could not offer all the features like the pose editor for them.
Not all models have the same amount of body parts, the same name, the same initial position / size, ...
But I currently checking some options to see what works best here, but will make no promises here.
i completely forgot about this useful feature:
custom player models has an animation tab, which uses actions (walk, sprint, jump, swim and so on)
it can also be set to use vanilla animations.
im telling you this because it might help you with the pose issue.
