Using the new 1.20.1 fabric version I noticed a waterfall I had created spawned extra cloud particles in a strange rectangle around it. I don't know how to reproduce it sadly, it just happened to occur as I was playing

Hey, sorry for posting the issue! After some investigation it seems kelp has just grown displacing the water causing more cascades to appear
