waterfall noises heard from long distances + too loud

The waterfall noises from the mod are being heard from a distance it shouldn't be. Over 100+ blocks away and they're still audible from that distance. Seems everywhere you travel, the water noises are too loud compared to every other sound and from testing the mod, it seems once you hear the waterfall once, it stays with you forever loses some of its volume until you relog.

I think it’s a good issue, but there are some Minecraft’s limitations.

At this version, sound of waterfalls are generated depending on render distance in your video settings; if 12 chunks (192 blocks) are visible and there is a waterfall, the sound is heard. I too think this is odd.
The point to be discussed here is, how far is the generally acceptable distance to hear sound of waterfalls. About 64 blocks in Euclidean distance? For example, the fireworks can be seen 64 blocks away.
I think "Water falls" sounds farther away than "Water flows".

Note
Too many waterfalls make sound louder. This is the same mechanism that occurs when there are too many mobs such as in All Mobs Farm.
