Request: Storable wand XP

I'm really getting into what this mod adds to my game, but I'm getting intimidated at how awful it would be to die and lose my wand, which hasn't even collected enough XP to upgrade to Apprentice (though there's a wizard selling the correct tome to upgrade it). It takes a LOT of investment to upgrade a wand. I don't think this is necessarily bad, but it would be very nice to be able to stockpile some XP for a new wand while I have one. Eventually something nasty is going to kill me, and I'd lose all that effort.
One thing I thought of would be a way to siphon XP off of my wand into a storage vial. That means I have to earn all the XP, but once I have managed to level up this wand, I can bank some XP against a new one. Wand XP could also be part of chest loot.
Another possibility would be for a mechanism for a higher-level wand to siphon off some of its XP to produce a larger experience vial that only can be applied to a wand of LOWER tier. That way you have to work to that tier from scratch once, but you can help yourself in getting other wands to that level.
I'm thinking of making some changes to progression, one of which is to make it easier to level up a second wand, and so on. What I will say is that it's also a lot of investment to make a full set of enchanted diamond armour, so is there much of a difference there?
Haha. I want it to take investment. Don't get me wrong!
But the friend I'm playing with has in fact produced a suit of diamond armor and partially enchanted in in the time it's taken me to advance my starter wand almost halfway to the next tier. Moreover, you can accumulate diamonds and enchantment books in chests at your base while you're adventuring, so that you can produce a new set comparatively quickly if the first set is lost.
Maybe that could somehow play into the intrinsic magic idea, that is, the more you level up your wands, the more you know about magic and stuff, so it gets easier for you to level them up? Also, I still think that intrinsic magic should be a thing.
Free associating from a mechanic in a different adventure game I play, another possibilty an item of equipped bauble that collects some % of the XP that the wand collects as it is used. Eventually, you fill up the bauble and store it in a chest. The XP from the bauble can be transferred to another wand.
That way, even if you have powered a wand up as far as you can currently take it, you can still contribute to powering up a future wand while you use it.
could also somehow tie wand XP to player XP (each wand/storage item gains X% of each bit of Xp that the player picks up)
just had another idea - Add another level of wand XP accumulation after Master, so when you use your master wand, you still generate wand XP. If your wand is a master wand, it can channel it's power into a lesser wand via an Arcane Workbench (by putting it in the crystal slot and putting the lower tier wand into the middle slot)
