What is the new feature or improvement?

Neither Trinkets nor Curios have released updates beyond 1.21.1 and especially in the case of Trinkets it looks like the dev has no plans to do so. Meanwhile, Accessories has updated to 1.21.4. It has compatibility layers for both Trinkets and Curios, however since neither has updated past 1.21.1 the compatibility layers are currently stopgapped there.

Since there's compatibility for both discontinued/no-plans-to-be-updated mods in that actively-maintained mod, it would make sense to at least support Accessories, if not convert over to it altogether

For reference, I am the developer of Curios as well so I just want to clear up that Curios is actively maintained and is being ported to 1.21.4 and above. After which, Elytra Slot will be updated accordingly.

As for the matter of Fabric, I will look into supporting Accessories on that loader so that the mod can be available if Trinkets is not available on those versions. However, I have no plans to convert over to it completely and would continue to support Trinkets as well when it updates.

That's an embarrassing mistake on my part, I had a few people on Discord tell me they were discontinued and frankly I carried misinformation with me. Sorry about that, and thank you for all the info - I apologize for my ignorance and oversight here.
