With the default settings, the vertical margin is set to 20. Meaning it will take almost the full screen when showing a recipe. But if you are just looking at an item with a single recipe to it, then there's A LOT of empty space.

Ideally some sort of logic could be applied to maximize the vertical margin and thus reducing the cursor travel distance and the odd empty space when there's not enough recipes or uses for a item. If an item has more than 1, expand to 2, then to 3, lastly to 4, then pages.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'd like to note that the amount of space and empty space displayed varies based on gui scale and screen size. In response to the actual suggestion, it is my belief that that sort of functionality, while relatively simple, is an anti-feature. Empty space is undesirable, but it's more undesirable for the location of things to be changing for a user. Having every time you click a recipe change the size of the screen you're looking at can be disorienting and hard to navigate, and EMI puts UX and quick usage first. This is the same reason recipes aren't centered, because consistent locations are more easy to navigate.

Hmm, I understand the concern. But what about making that dynamic panel set the recipes/uses position to match the position of what it looks like with vertical margin 20? Basically, the recipes boxes don't change position, but instead they get "displayed/enabled" and the margin simply contains them with whatever margin is needed. That way the user will have consistent locations and a smaller papel. If on default vertical margin I get 4 recipe boxe3s, and I look up a item with 3 uses, then those 3 recipes boxes have the exact position from the default vmargin but the 4th recipe is missing and thus the vmargin crops itself?

I don't know if I explained myself, it might look weird but seems to solve the tradeoff of having a dynamic panel
