Summary:
The floating decorative books are really awesome! They could be even more awesome if they could hold and provide quick access to a book, whether it be a 'book and quill', a 'written book', a bibliocraft book, or reference books added by other mods, including Patchouli books. It may even be possible to provide support for the Akashic tome or Mystcraft books. This shouldn't disrupt the decorative book's current function of increasing enchanting power in any way; this is simply additional functionality.
Technical details:
You could sneak-interact to access the decorative book's inventory; a single inventory slot. This slot is for holding the book the player wishes to interact with, and will only hold compatible books.
Upon interacting with the decorative book, the player would be presented with the contents of the book inside, as if they were directly interacting with the book itself. If the decorative book is empty when the player interacts with it, nothing happens. For convenience, you might also consider allowing players to directly fill empty decorative books by interacting with a book in their hands.
When the decorative book is broken, its contents are dropped.
Use examples:
This simple functionality would give players an intensely magic-themed option for keeping relevant notes and reference materials conveniently accessible at various workstations. For example, you could have a floating Tinker's Construct manual in your workshop, or a magical written book containing various potion recipes in your apothecary.
