SAG Mill pulverizing coal recipe is a dupe exploit
Freedbot opened this issue ยท 3 comments
Issue Description:
Coal (not ore) in the SAG Mill produces 1 coal dust, 10% chance of a second coal dust, and 10% chance of sulfur. Mechanism's Enrichment Chamber and Actually Additions (vanilla furnace smelting) allow coal dust to be converted back into coal.
What happens:
A simple setup pumping coal in loop between a SAG Mill and most mods furnaces or an Enrichment Chamber allows for infinite coal and sulfur, with enhanced rates depending on grinding balls. This process could easily power itself.
Suggested Solution
Remove the secondary coal dust output from the default SAG Mill recipe for coal. The default configs of a few mods allow for duping of sulfur among several other easy methods to get it in bulk and it isn't typically useful for much, so I don't consider the sulfur output an issue. Also, that makes it outside the scope of EnderIO's control. Duping a fuel like coal on the other hand is troublesome, especially since IC2 and Nuclearcraft allow you to turn stacks of coal into diamonds.
Affected Versions (Do not use "latest"):
- EnderIO: 5.2.59
- EnderCore: 0.5.76
- Minecraft: 1.12.2
- Forge: 14.23.5.2847
- SpongeForge? no
- Optifine? no
- Single Player and/or Server? yes
Mod is working as intended. If you want to do something about this, it's your job as a packmaker. Mods can have unintended interactions, but we shouldn't expect mod makers to have to balance for every situation imaginable. This is what happens when you throw several tech mods together without doing actual thinking about cross-mod interaction.
There's a custom recipe system that you can use for this built into the mod itself. I suggest utilizing it to balance as you wish.
Calm down Moxie, I'd already fixed and released the change in my pack before even reporting it. I was simply reporting to be a good samaritan. I just felt that this particular recipe falls outside the trend of how other ores being milled to dust are handled and is a fairly common thing for many mods to have a means to convert dusts back to coal, charcoal, gems, pearls, or blaze rods etc. Noting that sort of behavior and adapting is what mod inter-compatibility is about. That said, obviously the interpretation and power belong to the devs. The devs have spoken. The issue is closed. I left an emoji for "meh" and was done. Now that I've elaborated, I will now stop being hypocritical after this message and no longer post on a closed issue.... sorry about that. Thank you for your time.
