When you try to add a recipe, using JEI with the + button on a Creation Station whithout adding any memory card in it, it simply void the item, doesn't place anyware... I think you should allow using the Crafting Grid without adding a memory card, like that it will fix easy that issue and anyways a crafting grid is not really OP if there have no automation possible ;). Unless, I think you should look to lock possibility to use JEI, unless you have memory card in the block.
