Tall cattails replace the bottom half with air after the top half is broken. To reproduce, make a 1-deep hole out of dirt, fill it with water, then place a tall cattail inside so that the bottom half is in the water. The water will stay when breaking the bottom half of the cattail, but is deleted when breaking the top half.
