It would be nice to have heated and air conditioned indoor spaces.

Craft-able blocks that provide heat or cold protection to all entities in a radius would work.

Other ideas:

• requiring a redstone signal
• checking for a contained area or roof
• requiring fuel

temperatures of a block can get set via a datapack with a later version.
Not sure about adding such blocks cause I still want the medieval feel in this mod.
