so I guess the mod only applies damage in a certain area determined by the animations? that's a problem when you're fighting something that's either smaller than the player or somehow elevated because the damage isn't applied (as with enderman fighting endermite).
it's actually fine for players because you can just switch to building mode and whatever but maybe you could try to apply damage in a different way? maybe even with procedural animations.
